The George Washington University has seen, and continues to see, a large growth in our Military Personnel, student veteran, and dependent population.  In 2009/ 2010 GW established the Office of VALOR Student Services (OVSS) with a population of 350 using or requesting military education benefits. Currently in the fall of 2013, the Office of VALOR Student Services have processed over 1,029 individuals requesting education benefits.

To meet the needs of our Armed Forces Service-members, the Office of VALOR Student Services has established a model of success called OPERATION VETERAN. Under the structure of this model, and in support of the Associate Provost of Military and Veteran Affairs, over the past year the OMVSS has established successful programs. These include Veterans Week events, The Ribbon Project, The Rendering Project, Veteran Entrepreneur Program, VA work Study Program, Military and Veteran Career Services, Veteran History Project, War in the Media, Colonial Luau, DOG TAGS Handbook, DOG TAGS Newsletter. The OVSS also has received recognition from the White House Joining Forces Initiatives co-founder Second Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden in April of 2013.
