Valor Career Services is an initiative by the GW Center for Career Services to provide specific and tangible career services, support, and programming to the GW Valor student community in traditional degree programs on campus and those enrolled in distance learning. In addition to the programs and services specific to our office, we coordinate with the main Center for Career Services and the school-based career centers to assist Valor students with their individual career needs and plans.

Alumni Panel: February 9, 2018

     Attend this session and meet with recent veteran alumni from GW to learn about their transition to civilian life and a successful career.

The Pitch: (Spring 2018)

     The Pitch is an interview competition for Valor students to practice interview and business skills. It involves a day long three-part process of designing and refining your “pitch,” with coaches and employer mentors. Students will compete for funds for their professional development projects while learning valuable skills for the business world.

Valor Travel Award: (Continuous)

     Through the generosity of GW Trustee Emeritus Mark Shenkman, an award focused on travel funds has been established to bring eligible military and veteran students participating in online GW degree programs to campus to connect and interact with industry professionals and employers at specific events. An additional benefit of this campus visit will be the opportunity for students to meet with a career coach, faculty, GW Valor staff, and tour the main GW campus.

New York City Trip and Site Visit: (Fall 2018)

     An annual trip for Valor students to New York, where you will have the opportunity to meet and network with various top tier organizations centered in New York City.

     An ongoing initiative to provide Valor students with free customized business cards. Students must complete a short list of tasks meant to assess the student’s career path, skills, and goals.
